“A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes…”

I can’t believe Marlene and Nick are getting married in a month. A MONTH!!! This session feels like it was just yesterday! To commemorate their wedding countdown, I thought I would dedicate some time this evening to share some photos from their engagement session earlier this summer. These two and I share a lot in common having attended Ryerson, appreciating the same musical artists (they are my real life Jay and Bey!!!), and keeping a sincere and down-to-earth perspective on life. Their session consisted of visiting some of their favourite places, from a charming café in the Distillery District, a basketball court at harbourfront, and a record store on Queen West. Now, having a great shooting location is great, but it was the major chemistry that made this session extra romantic. I asked for sparks, and they gave me FIREWORKS. I left their engagement session thinking, “Wow, these guys are SO IN LOVE”.

I spent Monday evening of this week holding their pre-wedding consultation where these two shared their amazing engagement story with me. In short, it involved a surprise date that revisited some of their firsts, ultimately ending up in the same place they first met. It was in the halls of Ryerson (best school ever!) where Nick got down on one knee and Marlene said yes. I PROMISE you Nick’s version was way better, and got me all emo. 😉 I want to surround myself with people like Marlene and Nick and I’m so incredibly lucky to be a part of their wedding. I can’t wait for game day, lovebirds – let the countdown begin!

This gorgeous couple is Abbey & Francis. They are so in their own world that they speak their own language. In their dictionary, elee means I love you. We started their super sentimental engagement session in a theatre to commemorate their first date, and there was no shortage of giggles and popcorn. Dinner after the move was at the gorgeous Port Restaurant in Pickering, where they shared a glass (or two) of wine and beer and enjoyed the view of the marina. We ended the day with a nice summery stroll at Frenchman’s Bay, and by then the drinks had definitely kicked in because the giggles that filled our morning turned into quiet and romantic moments as if they had the entire beach to themselves. *sigh*

These lovebirds are getting married in 2016, and if you take a look at their engagement session, you can probably tell that their wedding theme (other than crazy giggles) is wine and beer. So cheers lovebirds! Let’s make sure to celebrate lots as you plan your big day!

“I wanna dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me.”

And dance the night away they did!  This is Sabrina and Alvin – the fanciest-danciest couple I’ve documented to date.  The day started with sunny skies at Sabrina’s parents’ colourful home.  I could tell the second I set foot into the house that they are a warm and welcoming family – their vibe was incredible!  Alvin and his family all took part in helping him get ready as well, and his entire entourage showed up at the church looking incredibly dapper!  The ceremony was held at St. Martin of Tours Church in Mississauga, with a very personalized mass – it’s not very often that I see priests take the time to get to know they couples they are marrying and it was nice to see how much he cared for them.  The rest of the day was spent at the gorgeous Harbour Banquet & Conference Centre in Oakville where they enjoyed breathtaking views of the marina nand danced and dined with their loved ones.

Sabrina and Alvin’s fabulous wedding planner and I struggled with coming up with a “theme” word for their wedding, and while it was hard to pinpoint just one, musical is definitely what I’d use first.  From the hand-picked musicians at their ceremony, down to their flash-mob dances at the wedding reception, there is no doubt that music is something they wanted highlight throughout their celebration!  I have to admit I was caught several times wiggling in my own chair to their awesome music, and we ended the night with me also dancing around with fireworks like a crazy person, to close their wedding day with some light painting.  You’ll have to wait until the end of this post to see the resulting image.  😉  Congrats Sabrina and Alvin and all the best to you both!

I know I keep talking about how cold the winter was in Toronto, but it’s true!  Shannon and Ian here had a cherry blossom request for the engagement session earlier this spring and after watching the weather roller coaster very very closely, we decided not to hold our breath.  For those who don’t know – the precious window for cherry blossoms is only about a week.  I walked the U of T is grounds the day of the session with plenty of other ideas up my sleeve and after turning one corner, I stopped dead in my tracks to an answered prayer.  The blossoms had arrived and were in full bloom, and Shannon was all smiles upon seeing the blossoms herself!  The timing was impeccable, and it really set the tone for the rest of the day.

Shannon is a friend of mine from high school and university, and if there’s one thing that hasn’t changed, it’s Shannon’s contagious laugh.  With Ian making her giggle throughout the day, it was hard to not laugh myself.  I’m sure my belly will hurt from all the laughter on their big day.  Ian is hands down and a one of the sweetest gentleman I’ve ever met, and I’m so very happy that my dear friend is marrying him.  Now that summer is upon us, the countdown is on for their September wedding!

“Maybe I’m just a little girl, a little girl with great big plans.”

Hi everyone, and happy summer! It’s been a while since I’ve shared a personal post hasn’t it?

I am thrilled to announce that Jamie Lucas Images is moving to Willowdale, Toronto! This move has been in the works for a very long time – to take care of some personal things and help me better accommodate all the amazing families that have been making the trek to my North Richmond Hill studio over the years. It’s been a blast serving my community, and I hope to see some new and familiar faces in the upcoming location as well. So bear with me while I embark on my next adventure, and stay tuned for developments of my new atelier!

Hearts,
Jamie
