Emilia & Mark – Maternity | Liberty Village Toronto

The stork is on definitely on its way!  We are now in the 7th month for Emilia and Mark, soon-to-be first time parents.

It is always nice to work with clients who have a hip sense of style, and want to take their pictures outside the studio.  It makes for interesting photos, and gives me a chance to further explore this great city of ours!  These two selected their very own neighbourhood near the CNE grounds, not only because it’s home for them, but because the neighbourhood is beyond charming!  I can see why so many people flock to this area.  I noticed a lot of new development as well, but as long as they can preserve what’s left of the historic buildings, I’m a happy duck.

I am personally curious when it comes to knowing the gender of the baby, but I think Mark and Emilia were right in choosing to keep it a surprise.  For most maternity sessions I’ve held, the parents already know – so it was refreshing to do a shoot with a lingering sense of mystery.  It keeps the session very neutral, and allowed me to photograph it completely objectively.  I was able to take their photos without gender-specific props, and just focus on their simple love for each other, their excitement on the upcoming addition, and Emilia’s natural glow and baby bump.  I should also mention she had great shoes for a soon-to-be-mama and gorgeous hair!!!

While I am convinced it’s a girl, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  Enjoy the time you have left as a family of 2, and I’ll see you all when you’re officially a family of 3!
